Bioassays for Benomyl Adsorption and Persistence in Soil Leon

چکیده

Two bioassay methods were modified to evaluate persistence, adsorption and biological availability of the fungicide benomyl in soil. The amount of biologically-available fungicide was assayed using the fungus Penicillium expansum Link ex Gray. The bioassay results were not significantly different from those obtained by spectrophotometry. The bioassays detected methyl 2-benzimidazole carbamate (MBC), which is the major toxic degradation compound of benomyl, to a limit of detection of 0.2 μg g and a limit of quantitation of 0.5 μg g in soil and leachate. The bioassays could be completed within two days. The amount of MBC adsorbed by soil varied, depending on soil type and fungicide concentration. In vitro soil degradation studies showed a half life for MBC of around four weeks.

Persistence of benomyl and captan and their effects on microbial activity in field soils.

Fusarium root rot, caused by Fusarium oxysporum schl. f. sp. pini (Hartig) Snyder & Hansen, causes severe losses to some species of conifers even though beds are fumigated with methyl bromide-chloropicrin (3:2) the autumn before spring seeding. Benomyl (methyl-l-(butylcarbamoyl)-2-benzimidazole carbamate) at ll.2 kg a.i./ha or captan (N-trichloromethylthio-4cyclohexene-l,2-dicaboximide) at 7.3 ...

Estimating Benzimidazole Residues in Thatch and Turfgrass by Bioassay

Bioassays using pellets of agar, thatch-agar and turfgrass-agar were developed using benzimidazole-sensitive Penicillium expansum, to detect the fungicide methyl 2-benzimidazole carbamate (MBC) which is the major fungitoxic degradation product of benomyl [methyl 1-(butylcarbamoyl)-2-benzimidazole carbamate] in thatch and turfgrass clippings. These bioassays were used to estimate the amount of f...

Persistence and efficacy of termiticides used in preconstruction treatments to soil in Mississippi.

Laboratory and field studies were conducted to determine the persistence and efficacy of termiticides used as preconstruction treatments against subterranean termites. Bifenthrin (0.067%), chlorpyrifos (0.75%), and imidacloprid (0.05%) ([AI]; wt:wt) were applied to soil beneath a monolithic concrete slab at their minimum labeled rates. Soil samples were taken from three depths (0-2.5, 2.6-7.6, ...

Kinetics of Mercury(II) Adsorption and Desorption on Soil

Adsorption and desorption kinetics of Hg(II) on four soils at pH 6 were investigated to discern the mechanisms controlling the retention and release reaction rates of Hg(II) on soil. A stirred-flow method was employed to perform experiments. Apparent adsorption and desorption rate coefficients were determined by a one-site second-order kinetic model. Both adsorption and desorption were characte...

Adsorption, desorption, soil mobility and aqueous persistence of fensulfothion and its sulfide and sulfone metabolites.

Soil/water interactions with the insecticide fensulfothion and its sulfide and sulfone metabolites and described. Adsorption to, and desorption from four soils were studied. There was a general inverse relationship between water solubilities of the three chemicals and their adsorption K values. Order of adsorption was f. sulfide greater than f. sulfone greater than fensulfothion. Adsorption K v...
